~*DIY No Sew Tutu Beginners Guide*~

One of the first "mom crafts" I got into was making tutus. I'll be honest, I was pretty intimidated at first. I look back and laugh about it now, because making tutus is not only fun, but its SUPER easy! Keep in mind, if you don't want to make them, you can buy them from me. My prices are very reasonable :)

Making a basic tutu is SUPER easy! Once you get the basics down you can start designing your own tutus, and getting even more creative by adding different embellishments, making tutu dresses, and much much more.

You Will Need
A soft tape measure
A ruler/yardstick (optional)
Scissors
Elastic
Tulle (25 yd spools is usually what I use. It's cheaper and easier to work with and store)
Hot glue & gun

Step 1
Measure the waist of the person your making the tutu for. Keep in mind, the elastic will stretch when you're making the tutu, so subtract about 3".

Step 2
Decide how long you want to make the tutu. A good rule of thumb is to measure from the middle of the thigh area to the waist. Remember though, tutus come is all different types of lengths. It's better to make it longer than too short for your taste. If it's to long you can always cut it.

Step 3
Cutting your tulle. This is by far my least favorite part of making a tutu. You have two options. If you have scissors that are large enough, sharp enough, and strong enough (and you're strong enough), you can cut each spool in half. If not, then you will need to measure out the tulle to whatever length you decided on, and then cut that piece down the middle. Instead of cutting it down the middle, you can keep it thick. It's really up to you. Lets say you need 20", then you measure out 40" because you're going to be folding it in half.

Step 4
Hot glue your elastic together. Wait a few minutes until it dries before you start making your tutu.

Step 5
Pull DOWN tight
Take your tulle (one piece at a time), fold it in half, and at the crease, knot it around the elastic and pull down tight.
The knot

Once you have more than one piece, squish them tightly together so you can not see the elastic

Do this until your tutu is done! It's simple and fun!!! Enjoy!
